The Narrows is not your typical storyline. The people you'll find among our ranks are who the moderators consider the best 'survivors' of the ever-dying online gaming community. You'll be hard pressed to find a storyline out there equal to the amount of thought, work, and creativity put into The Narrows, and while anyone can apply to participate, not everyone will be granted the privilege to participate.

While there is nothing 'typical' about The Narrows, we do share one common aspect with all storylines: we have a few guidelines that must be followed by everyone to ensure the best gaming experience.

General Notes:

- This storyline has adult themes and language. Note, however, that we do not require you to be 18 and over to participate. That's because we are in no way supportive of the 'cyber' community. If you're in search of an internet companion, please look elsewhere.

- Be mature and courteous to your fellow participants. Disrespect, harassment, and nagging will be met with zero tolerance.

- This storyline is moderated, meaning that it is run by a selected group of individuals. Though we try not to rear our heads often, if you  have a problem with authority, following guidelines, or participating in groups, please do not apply to The Narrows. The moderators of this storyline reserve the right to terminate your participation in the storyline at any time, with reason of course.

- Storyline interaction occurs within journals, AIM text messages, and AOL private rooms. This means that, yes, you need to have AIM and/or AOL to participate. Luckily, AOL is now a free service.

 

Requirements:

- You must create an account on greatestjournal.com before submitting your application. We do not require any journal entries until after you are accepted into the storyline, however, any applications lacking a journal link will be rejected and a request for correction will be made.

- You need at least two character photos for your character. Photos must be at least 300x400 pixels large and must be of high quality. Please make sure that these are actual photos, as we will not accept animations, drawings, CG's, etc. Also, we ask that applicants avoid PB's of extreme celebrity, such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Of course, we will allow the use of celebrities as PB's, but as a general rule of thumb, if your parents know their names, they're more than likely too famous to use as a PB for The Narrows.

- For those new to these sorts of applications, we don't expect you to write a novel. However, please be thorough and as detailed as you deem fit to give the moderators a good feel for your character. A few detailed and well-written paragraphs for 'history' is plenty, however, we ask all applicants to consider that the application process is as much for the moderators as it is for you. Use this as an opportunity to explore your character. Take advantage of character development. Give us something to be interested in.

- Spelling and grammar is taken into consideration. Please be sure to proof-read your application and run spell-check before submitting your application. Poorly written applications will be weeded out, as we consider your application an example of your gaming and writing ability.
